Vector is a term used to describe editing programs that use geometry in place of bitmap or pixel based photo or image editing software. An example of this is Adobe Illustrator ™ is a vector editing program whereas Adobe Photoshop ™ is a bitmap editor. Vector image editing relys on points of reference often called 'anchors' which are manipulated by 'handles'. Because the programs don't have to store information about pixels these files can be scaled small or large and the memory needed for file storage is minimal. By comparison bitmaps require a file to store the color values of each pixel in an image so the file sizes can be rather large. For an example we produced in brief video please click here.
